This is to certify that I have known Damien Colombo professionally for some three and a half years, however I first met him when, as an apprentice landscaper, he was involved in the construction of my garden, ten or so years ago.
During the past three and a half years, from when Damien first made his professional services known to my office, we have worked on three projects together. Each project has been a great success, with two of those recently nominated, and consequently short-listed, for awards by the Royal Australian Institute of Architects. One of these projects was selected as winner of the Design Merit Award for its category, and received from the judging panel a commendation for the landscape design. The other project was awarded equal-second prize.
I believe Damien’s designs are functional and detailed, yet creative. He follows up his concepts with thoughtful design development, and produces a thorough, tight set of working documents. His dealing with tenders and contract administration is also very good.
In summary, I feel that Damien’s design awareness, knowledge of construction detail, and general involvement in his field is impressive. I can speak highly of his professional ability and competence, based on my experience with several landscape designers, including his former employers, Tract Consultants.
